Chelsea announced on Friday James had signed a new six year contract until 2032, with his current deal due to expire in 2028.
James is an integral part of the club, and getting him to extend and commit the prime years of his career to Chelsea is a huge boost.
James has come through the ranks, and has made 225 appearances to date, winning both the Champions League and Club World Cup.
Liam Rosenior couldn’t hide his happiness at the news, with James one of the best players in the Premier League and arguably the best right back in the world.
The 26-year-old is Chelsea’s highest paid player on £250,000 per week, and it’s understood his new deal is in line with the club’s incentivised wage strategy.
However, Romano has shared an update on his YouTube channel and revealed James has in fact had his wages increased, whilst he never considered leaving despite interest.
James clearly believes in the project, but only time will tell if the Blues will be successful under this ownership and win the Premier League.
With James now renewed, it’s believed Chelsea are looking to renew further contracts with a number of decisions needing to be made.
