Chelsea currently have no plans to sell defender Benoit Badiashile this summer but another centre-back could be on the way out of Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has experienced a season plagued by injuries but returned at the weekend to play 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Badiashile has played only 13 games this season but according to Fabrizio Romano, the West London club have no plans to sell the former Monaco star at the end of the current campaign.

The French star has been with the Blues since January 2022 having arrived from Monaco as part of a £35m deal. The defender penned a long contract, which expires at Stamford Bridge in 2030. This would make moving the player on very tough and it makes sense for the Premier League to give the player a chance given the injuries he has had this season.

Benoit Badiashile will not be sold by Chelsea this summer

Two other Chelsea defenders could be on the move

Although Badiashile will not be sold, Romano says that Trevoh Chalobah could be on the move after failing to secure a transfer away from the Blues in January.

Unlike the French star, the 24-year-old is not part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at Stamford Bridge long-term and is very likely to move on during the summer.

Thiago Silva is another centre-back expected to leave Chelsea ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. The Brazilian is out of contract with the London club at the end of the season and will turn 40 this year.

Both players’ departures will likely result in the Premier League giants signing a new centre-back this summer but it remains to be seen who they target
