Swansea City are closing in on the signing of Jeremy Monga from Man City, with the Leicester City academy product arriving at The Etihad Stadium earlier this summer.

Jeremy Monga set the record as the Championship's youngest ever scorer for Leicester City against Preston North End on 16 August 2025, scoring at 16 years and 37 days old. That broke the previous record held by Jude Bellingham, who was 16 years and 63 days when he scored for Birmingham City.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Monga moved from Leicester to Man City for a fee of £10 million plus add-ons at the start of July.

That followed on from relegation for the Foxes, having suffered back-to-back relegations to go from fixtures against Man City, to games against Swansea City, to losing at home to Burton Albion in League One.

Monga has not been involved in any matchday squad for Man City so far this season, with Enzo Maresca opting for more experience than the 17-year-old. That was either to mean a year in the development squad or a campaign out on loan.

Swansea City have so far acquired nine players, including Joseph Opoku, Elijah Just, and Moussa Yeo as options out wide, albeit Just can also be utilised centrally. However, that is not stopping them from looking into signing Monga as well.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed Swansea have agreed a deal to sign Monga from Manchester City. There is a verbal agreement in place on a loan move for the talented winger, having been approved by Enzo Maresca as the ideal destination to develop.

How exciting Jeremy Monga could be under Vitor Matos

Monga is one of the most exciting young prospects in English football, with his pace, directness, and fearlessness already allowing him to make an impression at senior level despite his tender age. It also caused the £10 million move to Man City, too.

The wide player has enormous potential, and Swansea could be an excellent environment for him to continue his development. Vitor Matos is working with a young-looking squad, meaning Monga should arrive at a club willing to give emerging talent opportunities rather than simply expecting him to make an immediate impact.

Regular Championship football could be invaluable for his progression, while Swansea may benefit from the unpredictability and attacking quality he can bring from wide areas. His confidence belies his age, which is why both Swansea and Man City fans should be excited by this transfer deal going through.
