Scenario: Borussia Dortmund is placed sixth in the table and is therefore among the top eight teams that advance directly to the round of 16 after the conclusion of the group stage without having to go through the play-offs. However, their lead over the teams in ninth and tenth place, who are both level in points, is just one and five goals respectively. FK Bodø/Glimt are currently in 32nd place with two draws and three (narrow) defeats.
Home&Away: The Black&Yellows have lost just one of their last 20 home matches in the UEFA Champions League, recording 13 wins and six draws. Their goal difference is 45:12. They have conceded goals in only eight of their 20 home games. Although FK Bodø/Glimt reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League last season, they have won only one of their last 11 away matches in a European competition (a 2-1 win at Sporting Braga on Matchday 3 of the 2024/25 season), losing seven of those 11 away games. With the exception of one match (0-0 at Union Saint-Gilloise), they have scored at least one away goal in each of these 11 away fixtures.
Head-to-head record: BVB will face a Norwegian club for the fourth time in their 320th European Cup match, following encounters in 1963 (4-2 away, 3-1 home against Lynn Oslo, European Cup), 1999 (2-2 away, 3-0 home against Rosenborg Trondheim, Champions League) and 2015 (4-3 away, 7-2 home against Odds BK, Europa League). These matches with high scores have always seen at least three goals, an average of 5.5 per game. FK Bodø/Glimt are taking part in a European club competition for the twelfth time and have only face a German club once before. In the 1999/2000 season, the Norwegian club were eliminated in the first round by Werder Bremen, losing 5-0 (home) and 1-1 (away).
Premiere: Of the eight matches involving Dortmund in the league phase, three represent a first. BVB faced both Athletic Club Bilbao and FC Villarreal for the first time and now FK Bodø/Glimt.
Facts BVB: In the five matches played so far involving Dortmund, the home team have always scored exactly four goals. With 28 goals scored, the games involving BVB (with an average of 5.6) are the highest scoring of the current Champions League season – just ahead of Paris Saint-Germain (5.4).
Facts Bodø/Glimt: For the club from northern Norway, this is their first appearance of in the group/league stage of the UEFA Champions League. Norway's four-time champions (2020, 2021, 2023, 2024) had previously failed to qualify three times. The club also celebrated its biggest international successes in this decade: in 2022 they reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Conference League (2-1 and 4-0 away against AS Roma), and in 2025 they advanced to the semi-finals of the Europa League (1-3 and 2-0 away at Tottenham). While still without a win in the current Champions League season, Scandinavians have lost only once with more than one goal (3-1 away at Galatasaray) and they were also unlucky in conceding late goals (3-2 away at Juventus, 2-2 against Tottenham).By Boris Rupert
