Facundo Medina and Hamed Junior Traoré are back in Marseille’s squad for Sunday’s Coupe de France tie at Bourg-en-Bresse, kick-off 14:45, Roberto De Zerbi said on Friday.
The head coach called it very good news and noted Marseille have barely had either player available. He highlighted Medina’s bravery, positive edge and personality, and argued the team would not have conceded Toulouse’s 90+2 equaliser in the 2-2 draw with him on the pitch. He also said Traoré offers another option as a number ten to give Mason Greenwood and Igor Paixao more respite, and that if the Ivorian feels right and adapts he will be able to make a difference.
Both have only just resumed full training.
Medina, the Argentina international defender, had been out since late September with a right ankle issue.
Traoré, the Ivory Coast attacking midfielder, had been sidelined since early September due to a right thigh problem.
