Facundo Tello, set to referee Palmeiras' 2026 Libertadores opener, left Tuesday's World Cup play-off between DR Congo and Jamaica during extra time.

Palmeiras visit Junior Barranquilla in Cartagena on 8 April to start their group campaign. According to Nosso Palestra, Conmebol had appointed the Argentine official to that match.

In the second half of extra time, the Argentine suffered an injury and was substituted.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo won 1-0 and qualified for the 2026 World Cup to be staged in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Palmeiras' remaining group fixtures are Sporting Cristal at home on 16 April, Cerro Porteño away on 29 April, Sporting Cristal away on 5 May, Cerro Porteño at home on 20 May, and Junior Barranquilla at home on 28 May.
