FIFA president Gianni Infantino is the subject of a complaint to the International Olympic Committee from British NGO FairSquare, alleging repeated breaches of political neutrality and interference in the Balogun case.
According to Le Monde, the complaint was filed on Tuesday as part of FairSquare’s continuing pressure on the IOC over Infantino.
A week ago, FairSquare said it had approached the IOC’s inquiry commission to raise concerns about Infantino’s ties with the US president, Donald Trump, notably the FIFA Peace Prize presented to him in December 2025. At the same time it referred the matter to FIFA’s ethics committee.
In its new filing, the NGO cites statements and other clear displays of support for the US president attributed to Infantino. It also alerts the IOC over the Balogun matter, claiming everything suggests a decision stemmed from political pressure by the US president on Infantino.
The NGO argues that if Infantino intervened at the US president’s request, this would amount to another serious breach of the IOC’s political neutrality rules and would also violate the fundamental principle of fair play. It further recalls the IOC’s duty to protect sporting integrity by taking action against any form of competition manipulation.
