Santos supporter Victor Augusto, known as Vitão, has explained his post-match confrontation with Neymar after the 1-1 draw with Recoleta at Vila Belmiro in the Copa Sudamericana. According to Diario Do Peixe, he said it began with the forward's reaction to criticism from the stands.

On the pitch, Neymar put Santos ahead after three minutes, only for the visitors to level before the break. Santos squandered several chances in the second half, deepening frustration in the stands.

Vitão alleged Neymar told a female fan to be quiet, which prompted him to intervene from the seats. He said he loves the player but stressed that nobody is bigger than Santos and that anyone involved must honour the shirt and play with desire.

Clips posted on social media showed Neymar engaging with supporters, pointing to the club crest and saying he respects Santos. In another moment he appeared to accept parts of the criticism and questioned his own approach.

The draw left Santos without a win in the Copa Sudamericana, with one point from two matches and growing pressure on squad and board. Attention now turns to the Brasileiro, with Fluminense visiting Vila Belmiro on Sunday 19 at 16:00.
