“Football among friends, brought together by a shared love for Frankfurt.” That was how stadium announcer Daniel Wolf introduced the friendly between Eintracht and Rot-Weiss Frankfurt in front of 2,284 spectators, a match held as part of the 125th anniversary celebrations for the club based at the Stadion am Brentanobad.Eintracht arrived with a 22-man squad, but took many more players to Rödelheim for the game. Even before kick-off, captain Robin Koch, goalkeeper Michael Zetterer and several others fulfilled selfie and autograph requests. It was a welcome change of pace for the players after the conclusion of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season on Saturday.

Ebnoutalib opens the scoring

On the touchline, Rot-Weiss Frankfurt were coached by Ibrahim Cigdem, while Jan Fießer took charge of Eintracht - the two having once played together at Rot-Weiss. They oversaw what was initially an evenly balanced contest, with Eintracht enjoying slightly more possession, before Younes Ebnoutalib scored a fine goal after 16 minutes to give his side a 1-0 lead at the break.

The Eagles increased the tempo in the second half and were soon 3-0 up after goals from Keito Kumashiro (55’) and Lukas Sonnenwald (57’).

Mario Götze and Rasmus Kristensen came off the bench in the 64th minute, shortly before Kumashiro grabbed his second of the game as Eintracht went 4-0 ahead (68’). Sonnenwald (71’, 82’) and Paul Wünsch (79’) rounded out the occasion for a 7-0 final score, after which there were plenty more selfies and autographs for the fans.
