Farioli will be forced into changes against Manchester City at 20:00, with several tweaks expected from midfield back, while the attack should remain intact.
Nehuén Pérez is set to replace Bednarek at centre-back, while Alan Varela is tipped to cover for Froholdt, altering the triangle. Fofana is not expected to be at full speed and Inbeom, a new arrival this season, is less ready to start. According to Transfermarkt, City’s squad is valued at €1.43bn, second only to Real Madrid by €2m.
City spent €526m on nine players in the last summer window, the biggest outlay in the market.
City have been a profitable customer for Porto, with only Real Madrid paying more since the start of the millennium. Madrid’s buys of Éder Militão, Danilo, Pepe and Casemiro total €126.5m, just ahead of City’s €120m for Fernando Reges, Mangala and Nico González. Atlético Madrid are third on €103m.
Seven Champions League clubs exceed €1bn in market value. The others in that bracket are PSG, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool. Porto stand at €464m, ahead of Sporting on €378.7m.
