Farioli ‘to get’ Bednarek boost before Benfica v Porto | OneFootball

Francesco Farioli has received encouraging news over Jan Bednarek’s fitness ahead of Benfica v Porto, as the Italian coach prepares for Sunday’s Clássico.

Record writes that the Polish defender suffered ribcage trauma against Sporting, then underwent further tests on Thursday, five March, which showed no fractured ribs.

Bednarek could be cleared to feature at the Luz, although he remains in treatment and is racing time to be fully ready to start.

Given Bednarek’s situation, Farioli has other defensive options. Thiago Silva, absent for the Alvalade Clássico, is training in a limited capacity and everything suggests he will be involved on Sunday, eight March.

Luuk de Jong and Samuel are the only confirmed absences. On the Benfica side, José Mourinho also faces uncertainty, with Fredrik Aursnes out for at least three weeks as he weighs replacements.
