Leeds United enter the final five days of the January window with Daniel Farke saying the board know his view and that the club can take a measured approach. He added current injuries do not alter the plan.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds targeted one or two attacking additions and have taken Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton after a near-miss last summer. The right wing or No 10 role was a clear gap.
Up front, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s physical presence is vital, but his injury record counts. Lukas Nmecha misses Arsenal with a new hamstring issue, while Joel Piroe has had limited minutes and is not a target man.
Leeds made an official bid for Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen last week, which Wolves rejected. Molineux held firm awaiting Crystal Palace, and on Thursday morning the Eagles offered £45m plus £5m add-ons to become frontrunners for the Wolves man.
Farke said Leeds will not expand the squad, stressing they are on a good path and can be picky in a limited January market. He warned prices can be inflated and the club will not take financial risks or promise loan players minutes.
He would rather run with a tight group than harm dressing-room spirit, accepting the risk if injuries bite. He said Gabi Gudmundsson has a chance for Arsenal, Nmecha and Jaka Bijol could return for Nottingham, and he does not anticipate departures.
