The Copa del Rey night against Atlético Madrid has left its mark on FC Barcelona. The Catalan club saw two of its starting defenders leave the pitch with serious physical problems. Substituted very early in the match, Jules Koundé immediately signaled the bench after feeling pain in his calf.

"It seems a little more serious than initially expected for the French full-back, despite the early updates we received. He has a calf injury and is expected to be sidelined for a month."

The bad news doesn’t stop there for Barcelona. Alejandro Balde is also suffering from a muscle injury to his left hamstring and could miss between five and six weeks of competition. It’s a double blow for the Catalan defense at the dawn of a particularly packed fixture list.
