FC Barcelona return to La Liga action following their UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid. Despite a spirited effort across both legs, La Blaugrana ultimately fell short and saw their European journey come to an end.

However, the season is far from over. Having already secured the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona now shift their full focus towards La Liga, where they remain firmly in control of the title race. Their next challenge comes against Celta Vigo as they aim to take another decisive step towards the finish line while maintaining their lead at the top of the table.

Match overview:

This encounter is unlikely to be straightforward for either side. Both teams possess the attacking quality to cause problems, and Barcelona will need to remain sharp and disciplined to avoid any costly slip-ups at this crucial stage of the season.

With La Liga now their only remaining objective, Hansi Flick is expected to demand a strong response from his players. Barcelona’s recent form also reflects a team determined to finish the campaign on a high and secure the league title.

Across their last five games in all competitions, Barça have four wins and one loss. Moreover, in those five games, they have scored nine goals and conceded five.

Not exactly an ideal goal difference, but it still shows that the Catalan giants are capable of hurting their opponents while minimising the damage. Thanks to this, they are currently leading the La Liga table by six points, with a game in hand.

Celta Vigo, meanwhile, arrive in a far less convincing run of form. Currently sitting sixth in La Liga, they still have plenty to fight for, but their recent performances raise concerns. They have lost four of their last five matches, managing just a single win in that period.

While Celta have scored seven goals across those games, their defensive record is a major issue, having conceded 15 goals. Such vulnerability at the back will undoubtedly encourage Barcelona’s attacking unit, who will see this as an opportunity to exploit weaknesses and assert dominance.

That said, complacency cannot creep in. Barcelona must balance their attacking intent with defensive solidity to ensure they remain in control throughout the contest. If they manage to do so, they will be well placed to secure another vital three points in their pursuit of the La Liga crown.
