FC Bayern confirm Tom Bischof will take over Leon Goretzka’s number | OneFootball

Tom Bischof will take Leon Goretzka’s number eight shirt at FC Bayern starting from the 2026/27 season. The versatile midfielder wore the number 20 in his first season at the Rekordmeisters.

Goretzka leaves FC Bayern after the end of his contract following a largely successful eight-year spell. Bischof joined Vincent Kompany’s side during the special transfer window arranged by FIFA for the Club World Cup last summer.

He scored three goals and assisted three more in 39 appearances in all competitions. However, it wasn’t enough at the end to convince Julian Nagelsmann as there was no place for the 21-year-old all-arounder in Germany’s World Cup squad.

Bischof was a Fritz Walter Golden medalist in the U19 category a couple of years ago when he was at Hoffenheim. He only wore the number 8 previously during the 2021/22 season for Hoffenheim U19.
