Borussia Dortmund will be looking to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich when they visit FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
They can take some comfort from the fact that their loss to Bayern was their first of the season, ending a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
In the Champions League, Niko Kovac’s side sit on four points from two games after squandering a 4-2 lead to draw 4-4 with Juventus and beating Athletic Club 4-1.
It won’t be the first time FC Copenhagen face German opposition at home this season, having previously drawn 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen.
In the Champions League, that draw was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Qarabag, leaving the Danish side winless in Europe's top club competition after two games.
The Qarabag loss also marked the start of a three-game winless streak across all competitions for the Danish capital club, who most recently suffered an underwhelming 3-1 Superliga defeat to Silkeborg, having trailed 3-0 at half-time.
The two teams also met at Parken in the 2022/23 Champions League, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
FC Copenhagen will certainly be without Magnus Mattsson and Rodrigo Huescas, both sidelined with long-term knee problems.
Andreas Cornelius, former BVB midfielder Thomas Delaney, and Mohamed Elyounoussi are all doubtful after missing Friday’s defeat to Silkeborg.
Former BVB striker Youssoufa Moukoko is in contention to start against his old club, though his place in the lineup is uncertain, having started only one of Copenhagen’s last four games.
Borussia Dortmund will be without long-term absentees Emre Can (groin) and Julien Duranville (shoulder). Aaron Anselmino is nearing a return to full fitness and could potentially make the squad.
