FC Groningen have announced the signing of Kevin van Veen from Motherwell. The 32-year-old striker joins Groningen who saw their 23-year stay in the Eredivisie come to an end last season. Van Veen has signed a three-year contract with the club.

Kevin van Veen has just experienced the best season in his career. The former Scunthorpe United and Northampton Town striker earned a spot in the Scottish Premiership team of the season after scoring 25 goals in 36 appearances for Motherwell. The Dutchman fell two goals short of Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi for the Scottish Premiership top scorer title.

In recent weeks Groningen have made the signings of Michael Verrips, Hidde Jurjus and Daniël Beukers as they look to shoot straight back up to the top flight. Kevin van Veen could turn out to be a superb signing as he’ll bring firepower to the frontline next season. The Dutchman has previously played in the Eerste Divisie for Top-Oss and Helmond Sport, so he’s certainly got the experience.
