FC Groningen sign French talent Noam Emeran from Manchester United | OneFootball

FC Groningen have completed the signing of Noam Emeran from Manchester United. The 20-year-old Frenchman has signed a four-year contract at the Euroborg Stadion, valid until mid-2027.

Noam Emeran kicked off his career with Amiens U19s. In 2019 he was picked up by Manchester United, where he featured 37 times for the U21s and 18 times for the U18s. He’s scored 13 goals and provided eight assists within those games. Emeran scored for Manchester United during their 2-0 preseason victory over Leeds United last month.

Having impressed at academy level, Emeran has moved to the Netherlands in the hopes that he’ll receive regular first-team game time. The former France U16 international will play for Eerste Divisie side FC Groningen, who are looking to bounce straight back up to the Eredivisie after a disappointing campaign in the top flight.

Talking about why he made the move from Manchester to Groningen, Noam Emeran told the club website ‘FC Groningen has a good plan for me and the conversations showed that the club knew me well as a player. This is the best choice for me to develop both on and off the field. My goals are of course to play a lot, score goals, provide assists, in short, become a better version of myself.’

Emeran also revealed that his former Manchester United teammate, Donny van de Beek advised him to move to the Netherlands. ‘I regularly participated in the first team of Manchester United in the preparation. Teammate Donny van de Beek told me that FC Groningen is a good club, with a lot of support and family. I have seen a video of the supporters during the previous home game. They really want to fight for their club and I want to fight for the supporters.’
