That’s the target that Martin O’Neill will be setting in the away dressing room at the MCH Arena in Herning. Tonight’s hosts have won their three opening games and the players in the Celtic dressing room will probably know that they too could be sitting on that total.

Two points were dropped carelessly in Belgrade while it was an unbelievably bad VAR decision that robbed Celtic of an equaliser against Sporting Braga and with it the momentum Celtic would have had to go onto win the game, as indeed they did against SK Sturm Graz in the most recent match.

Tonight sees Celtic fulfil our fourth fixture in the Europa league group stages, and it goes without saying that we need to avoid defeat if we harbour any aspirations of automatic qualification to the last 16.

FC Midtjylland, the side who stand in our way are a decent side who will pose us plenty of problems, especially as they have home advantage, you can be sure of that. The Danish side are on a great run, both domestically and in the Europa where they have won their opening three games, including an impressive 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest, so it will prove a tough hurdle to negotiate for Martin O’Neill and the Celtic players.

Much like their Scandinavian counterparts Bodo/Glimt, the Danish Superliga side are well drilled and have quality players who can hurt us such as Franculino Dju, the Brazilian striker who boasts an impressive record of 17 goals in 24 appearances this season, so our defenders will need to be on full alert if we are to prevail and get a positive result.

A draw would be heralded as a positive result, but if we have any ambitions of gaining strides in Europes secondary tournament, we really need to earn all three points. There’s no reason why we can’t.

Celtic’s points total is probably lower than expected, Bayern Munich currently sit top of the Champions League table and the last team to give them a fright was actually Celtic. FC Midtjylland however have done brilliantly as few would have expected them to be topping the Europa League standings after three rounds of fixtures.

If they are still top at the end of play today then it’s going to be pretty much curtains for Celtic as far as progressing in the competition is concerned, although not totally impossible it would need an incredible turnaround.
