Union St Gilloise will have to do without a key man in Alessio Castro-Montes for their Europa League clash with Danish side FC Midtjylland. The defender went off injured during the 0-0 draw with Gent at the weekend and has not made the trip to Denmark. It is not yet clear how long the former Gent man will be out for. Union are looking to grab their first win of the competition, having lost one and drawn one so far.
Domestically, in the Belgian Pro League, Union have also struggled compared to recent seasons. While they are still creating chances, they are failing to convert these.
Their opponents are unbeaten in the competition so far. They drew their opening game 1-1 with Bundesliga side Hoffenheim before a 2-0 away win against Maccabi Tel Aviv. However, they are on a bad run of form domestically. They have lost their last two matches, yet do remain in second place in the Superligaen. They are level on points with FC Copenhagen in first place. Guinea Bissau youngster Franculino has led the side with nine goals and five assists in 21 games so far.
With Roma coming to Brussels in November for their fourth game of the competition, Union will be desperate to get three points in Denmark this Thursday. The Danish side trave to Romania for their next fixture in the Europa League to face FCSB.
