FC Porto B are enjoying their best spell of the season, unbeaten in four, a run matched only once last season. They are seventh in the II Liga, two points behind fourth-placed Torreense, and are moving away from the danger zone that dogged much of last term.
João Brandão's side started poorly, losing five of their first seven matches. The picture has shifted as they adjusted to first-team dynamics and the squad developed, the youngest in six years with an average age of 19.6.
Resilience has defined the past 10 games. Porto B trailed in seven of them and failed to take points only against Felgueiras and Feirense, while coming from behind to beat Leixões, Sporting B and Ac. Viseu.
Last season's dips after conceding appear to have been addressed, helped by contributions from the bench. Recent goals by substitutes include Gonçalo Sousa against Sporting B, Tiago Silva against Feirense, André Oliveira versus Vizela, Mateus Mide against Farense and Bernardo Lima on Sunday against Leiria.
On Monday, against bottom side Paços de Ferreira, they will aim to extend the run.
