FC Porto used their Dragões Diário newsletter to launch a fierce broadside at Sporting and president Frederico Varandas, alleging a Santa Aliança with Benfica aimed at bringing down the club.
According to O Jogo, Porto argued Varandas repeatedly avoids punishment from the Disciplinary Council and any court after belittling the Portuguese Football Federation president, and said Sporting have since amassed contentious refereeing episodes following his Guimarães outburst.
The club also attacked Benfica, accusing their neighbours across the Segunda Circular of complicit silence while calling for even more penalties, which Porto framed as part of this alliance.
In outlining grievances, Porto’s text pointed to the Famalicão goal ruled out at Alvalade in round 22 of the I Liga.
They further highlighted captain Morten Hjulmand, claiming he enjoys weekly leniency from referees, something the newsletter described as shocking.
