FC Porto lead Golden Boy candidates with five nominees

FC Porto are the most represented club worldwide among the Golden Boy candidates, with five players nominated.

Victor Froholdt, Rodrigo Mora, William Gomes, Oskar Pietuszewski and Martim Fernandes form the Porto quintet. O Jogo reports that the award recognises the best under-21 playing in Europe this year.

They are aiming to succeed Desiré Doué, the 2025 winner. At present, the Danish midfielder is sixth, behind Cubarsí and Yamal (Barcelona), Yan Diomande (Real Madrid), Zaire-Emery (PSG) and Bouaddi (Lille).

The list will be reduced to 20 athletes in October.

An international jury will decide the winner, with the prize to be presented in November.
