FC Porto are not considering a break in institutional relations with Sporting, Jornal de Notícias reports.

The report adds that Porto do not see Frederico Varandas as having sufficient institutional relevance to justify such a step.

The members’ group "Por um Futebol Clube do Porto Maior, Unido, Insubmisso e Eclético" had urged a cut in institutional ties after remarks by Varandas they considered insulting, reiterating a plea first made following the death of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa.

Their communication was addressed to André Villas-Boas, Porto's leader, and António Tavares, president of the Mesa da Assembleia Geral.

It was sent via Miguel Brás da Cunha and Luís Folhadela, who were elected by the group to the Conselho Superior do FC Porto in the last elections.
