In a filing to the Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários, FC Porto SAD said it has sold its stake in Porto Seguro - Sociedade Mediadora de Seguros do Porto to MDS - Corretor de Seguros, S.A., a deal that should deliver a capital gain of about nine million euros.
The transaction values Porto Seguro at €10 million for 100% of the capital. FC Porto SAD owns 95% and the club holds 5%.
Porto Seguro had a positive net cash position at completion, so overall proceeds will be slightly above €10 million.
The sale forms part of Porto’s strategy to simplify its corporate structure and strengthen financial sustainability, enabling a sharper focus on its core activity.
Porto also agreed a long-term commercial partnership with MDS. It covers future insurance for the FC Porto group and the development of offers for members, supporters, staff and partners, with the results of this activity to be shared between the two parties.
