FC Porto have signed winger João Fonte for their newly created futsal team.

The club said on Tuesday that the 28-year-old joins a side who will compete in Portugal's third tier in their debut season.

Born in Vila do Conde, Fonte has previously played for ADCR Caxinas, Arsenal Maia, Rio Ave, Futsal Azeméis and São Mateus.

He has represented Portugal's national teams and scored 21 goals in 23 matches last season, also in the third division.

He is the 11th addition announced, following Cardinal, Tiaguinho, Tiago Correia, Samuel Silva, Tiago Velho, Leandro Silva, Ricardo Costa, Rafael Lara, Luís Paulo and David Rodrigues.
