FC Bayern II player Sarpreet Singh switched to Jahn Regensburg on loan in the summer. However, as the 2. Bundesliga team announced on Tuesday, the 23-year-old will not be eligible to play for the entire Hinrunde following a shocking error
The summer transfer window has been closed for almost a month, but as New Zealander Sarpreet Singh was just recovering from an injury, this mistake was only recently noticed. Regensburg release in a statement that ‚As a result of a late notification of the loan transfer for Sarpreet Singh to SSV Jahn to the DFL, no playing rights have been granted for the first half of the 2022/23 season‘
Simply put, Jahn Regensburg forgot to register Singh as a player for their club and he will not make any appearances for them until 1 January 2023 as a result. The earliest date the club can register him will be on this date, when the winter transfer window opens. His loan terms state he cannot be recalled or have the loan terminated, and even if so, a player can only represent two clubs in a calendar year.
