FCB Women travel to Turin for tough away assignment | OneFootball

After the weekend's match at Wolfsburg, FC Bayern Women are back in UEFA Women's Champions League action on Wednesday 16 October. Alexander Straus' side play away at Juventus at 6:45pm CEST. FCB Women got their UWCL campaign off to a successful start last Wednesday with a thrilling 5-2 win at home to Arsenal - featuring a hat-trick from Pernille Harder. Now they face an intriguing clash with Juventus, in which the Munich girls are hoping to cement top spot in the group.

Things are going similarly well for Juventus. The Italian side have won every game in Serie A and are three points clear at the top of the table. In the Champions League, Le Bianconere qualified after a 5-2 aggregate victory over Paris Saint-Germain and won their opening group game against Vålerenga 1-0.

FCB Women came up against the Turin club, whose squad includes Germany international Paulina Krumbiegel, in their final pre-season friendly in August, which ended 0-0.

Team news

Long-term absentees Lena Oberdorf (cruciate ligament), Katharina Naschenweng (knee) and Franziska Kett (ankle) remain sidelined for Bayern. Jovana Damnjanović will travel to Turin following her painful collision in the match against Wolfsburg but remains a doubt. Magdalena Eriksson is also back in the squad.

FC Bayern Women have only lost two of their last 16 group games UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Alexander Straus: "Juventus showed in the pre-season friendly that they're very intense in their pressing all over the pitch. They kept trying to provoke one-v-one situations. If we do our things well, we can compete against anybody."

Klara Bühl: "We've identified and analysed the mistakes from last weekend. In Juventus we're up against a physically strong team, who focus their play on one-v-one. Therefore we need to win our battles, keep the ball and get our game going."
