Here’s the Eredivisie champions will most likely line up.

GK: Remko Pasveer – The veteran has established himself as the Ajax number one, proving to be a safe pair of hands in the opening games of the season.

RB: Devyne Rensch – After a poor start to the campaign, Rensch has delivered some improved performances recently and so will start ahead of new signing Jorge Sanchez.

CB: Jurrien Timber – The 21-year-old has picked up where he left off, looking every bit as good this season as he did in the last one.

CB: Calvin Bassey – His time at Ajax got off to a nightmare start with him being sent off on his debut, but he has been excellent since then and has established himself as one of the team’s most important players.

LB: Daley Blind – With Owen Wijndal injured, Blind will definitely play, but he likely would even if the new signing was fit given his strong form.

CM: Steven Berghuis – Berghuis has come back into the starting XI following the departure of Antony and has seized his chance with both hands, getting two goals and two assists in the last three games, arguably creating more than any other Ajax player. As a result, he’ll almost definitely be picked ahead of Davy Klaassen.

DM: Edson Alvarez – After trying to force his way out of the club and to Chelsea, Alvarez has gotten his head down and delivered typically steady performances, ensuring he remains in the first-choice XI ahead of new signing Florian Grillitsch.

CM: Kenneth Taylor – Ajax’s breakthrough star of the season so far, Taylor has been the engine at the heart of the team’s midfield and is ahead of Klaassen in the pecking order.

RW: Dusan Tadic – Tadic has struggled since moving to the right-wing, but ensured he’ll start against Liverpool after producing his best performance of the season so far against Heerenveen, getting three assists.

ST: Mohammed Kudus – He started the season on the bench and looked likely to leave but after two fantastic showings as a false 9 in the last two games, Kudus will most likely get the nod ahead of Brain Brobbey up front again.

LW: Steven Bergwijn
