Manchester City dipped into the transfer market for the first time in the close season on Friday with the addition of Venezuelan international attacker Deyna Castellanos.

The 23-year-old has signed a three-year deal at The Academy Stadium and she will officially join The Cityzens on 1 July following the expiration of her contract with current club Atlético Madrid.

23 – Castellanos has scored 23 goals in just 58 appearances for Atlético Madrid. The player has built that goal record in just two-and-a-half seasons in Spain.

10 – Castellanos was the joint-top scorer for Atlético Madrid in the Spanish league this season with 10 goals. She topped the club’s goal rankings with Rasheedat Ajibade.

2014 – The forward won the Golden Boot at the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2014. She netted six goals alongside teammate Gabriela Garcia as Venezuela finished fourth.

12 – Castellanos has scored 12 goals in just 25 appearances for Venezuela at senior level. She made her senior debut for the nation in 2018.

21 – In 2021, at the age of just 21, Castellanos was handed the captain’s armband for the Venezuelan national team.

5 – Castellanos scored five goals in her first two games for Venezuela at senior level. She netted the winning goal on her debut as Venezuela defeated Ecuador 1-0 before scoring four more in an 8-0 victory over Bolivia just days later.

1 – Castellanos won the Spanish Women’s Super Cup, the Supercopa de España Femenina, with Atlético Madrid in 2020/2021. The player netted one goal against Levante in the final as Atlético Madrid won the tie 3-0. The player had also converted from the spot in the penalty shootout in the semi-final victory over FC Barcelona. It was Castellanos’ one and only trophy won in Spain.

48 – As a teenager, Castellanos spent three years playing college football in the United States. She hit 48 goals in 82 appearances for the Florida State Seminoles.
