On Wednesday, Hakan Safi announced the signing of Luis Suárez from Sporting as part of his bid for the Fenerbahçe presidency.

Speaking at a rally on Thursday, he said André Villas-Boas had called to praise the move and claim he had planned the same deal. According to O Jogo, that conversation did not happen and the remarks have no basis.

Safi told supporters that, if elected, Suárez would wear the Fenerbahçe shirt next season.

He also recounted that Villas-Boas had asked how he managed it, presenting the proposed transfer as a coup for his ticket.

André Villas-Boas is the president of Porto.
