Turkey international centre-back Caglar Soyuncu is reportedly currently in talks with West Ham United over a summer transfer move.
The 30-year-old Fenerbahce defender wants to leave the Super Lig club and is eyeing a move to West Ham.
Hammers manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants defensive reinforcements as he eyes an instant return to the Premier League.
A move for Everton defender Michael Keane has fallen through, and West Ham have moved on to other targets.
Soyuncu brings needed experience to the table having made 98 Premier League appearances during the five seasons he spent with Leicester City.
He left for Atletico Madrid after leaving the Foxes and has spent the last three seasons with Fenerbahce.
Soyuncu could now be on his way back to England and West Ham have less than 11 hours to get a deal done.
The Hammers have started the season with Maximilian Kilman and Konstantinos Mavropanos as their centre-back pairing.
Teenager Airidas Golambeckis has been providing cover but West Ham could do with an experienced player.
Signing him could make all the difference for the Hammers as they strive to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
They could also look to strengthen at left-back today, with a deal to sign AS Roma’s Anass Salah-Eddine on a season-long loan being explored.
