Fenerbahce are exploring the market for a new striker before the Turkish transfer window closes on Thursday.
Youssef En-Nesyri’s departure to Saudi Pro League side (SPL) Al-Ittihad and Jhon Duran’s impending move to Russian outfit Zenit Saint Petersburg have left them with just one striker – Sidiki Cherif.
Cherif has just joined from French club Angers and has limited top-flight experience.
Fenerbahce have now made an ‘initial enquiry’ for Al-Hilal’s Darwin Nunez, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Turkish giants are discussing a loan deal, but a move is not guaranteed.
Nunez could be open to leaving Al-Hilal, following the arrival of Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad, which could push him down the pecking order.
The Uruguayan has struggled to impress in the SPL this term. He has scored just six goals in 16 games and has missed 14 big chances – the joint-highest in the division.
Fenerbahce have made an official offer for another striker, according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuogluz, suggesting that they are already exploring other options.
The Turkish side has already signed five players in the winter transfer window, including N’Golo Kante and Matteo Guendouzi.
