Fenerbahçe president Sadettin Saran has been sentenced in Türkiye to two and a half years in prison and a €10,500 fine for inciting illegal betting, according to the state-run Anadolu agency.

The case centres on adverts for illegal betting sites that appeared on a video platform owned by his holding company.

Saran has rejected the accusations and signalled he will appeal. He maintains the adverts were shot inside sports venues and were not intentionally carried on his platform.

The sentence was not accompanied by a committal order. One of his brothers received the same punishment.

Elected in September 2025, Saran is due to leave the Fenerbahçe presidency in June.
