The Turkish giants missed out on the Super Lig title to fierce rivals Galatasaray and are determined to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season in search of a first league crown since 2014.
The opportunity to target Bowen arises from the changing landscape at the London Stadium. Following West Ham’s relegation to the EFL Championship, the Hammers face the prospect of losing several key players.
While West Ham are eager to retain their star forward to spearhead an immediate promotion push under Nuno Espirito Santo, they know a summer departure for Bowen is more than likely.
Nonetheless, a swoop for the 29-year-old attacker would require a significant commitment from the Fenerbahce board.
West Ham are seeking around £50m to part ways with their talisman, who remains under contract until June 2030. Furthermore, Fenerbahce will need to fend off competition from the Premier League, with Aston Villa, Chelsea and Everton all reported to be interested in the ‘unbelievable’ winger.
For Bowen, staying in England is preferred to preserve his international prospects under Thomas Tuchel. However, the allure of a lucrative move to Istanbul, combined with the prospect of regular European football, presents a compelling alternative to a gruelling 46-game Championship campaign.
Further developments regarding the winger’s future are expected once West Ham finalise the exit of Mateus Fernandes, who is wanted by both Manchester United and Tottenham.
West Ham have placed an £85m price tag on the midfielder and are holding out for the highest possible fee before sanctioning a sale.
