One of the most interesting players at FC Barcelona right now is Fermin Lopez. The Spanish midfielder, unlike many of his peers at the club, provides a unique profile to Hansi Flick that focuses on his dynamism and rather risky play-style as a player.

However, this unique profile of his was noticed by clubs even beyond just the Catalan side that he currently represents. Yet, despite the interest from other clubs, he decided to stay in Spain and continue to stick with Barça.

Still, it was interesting to hear his side of the story as well. During a recent interview with RAC1 (via Mundo Deportivo), Lopez provided some personal insights about the aforementioned interest and other interesting topics as well.

The 22-year-old Spanish midfielder initially spoke about his past and his path to the first team, a goal of his that he once believed would never amount to anything:

“When they loaned me to Linares, I thought it was over. At first, it was tough there, because I had left Barça where I had everything. But when I started playing, I changed my mindset.”

When asked about the possible interest of other clubs in him during the summer transfer window, with Chelsea’s interest being rather notable, the Barcelona midfielder made it clear that leaving was not something he considered at all:

“Not at all. There were offers from other clubs, but I never had the intention of leaving, and I think the club didn’t want to sell me either. I’ve always been a Barça fan, since I was a kid. It all comes from one of my mother’s uncles, who’s always been a Barça supporter.”

Lopez also cleared up his relationship with Gavi, something that various outlets were suggesting was not exactly a positive one at the moment:

“We’re the same as always. We’ve known each other since we were 13. There’s no problem. He’s one of my best friends in the dressing room, along with Pedri, Balde, Eric, Dani… Things came out, but it’s like with the case of Ter Stegen.”

Unfortunately for Lopez, he might have to wait before he can return to action for the club once again. After having suffered an injury following the recent win over Getafe, he is now expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
