Barcelona’s midfield sensation Fermin Lopez has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, putting to rest any speculation about a summer departure.

In an interview with Tu Diras de RAC1, the 22-year-old Spaniard made it abundantly clear that “I’m not thinking about leaving or anything like that.”

After a strong season in which Fermin played a key role in Hansi Flick’s system, the youngster has inevitably attracted attention from clubs across Europe. But he remains laser-focused on succeeding at Barça.

“I’m very happy at Barça. It was my dream and I obviously want to stay,” he said, underlining his emotional connection to the club.

Despite fierce competition for places in midfield, the 22-year-old views it positively. “It’s very healthy and we all understand it,” he added.

Praise for Joan Garcia

Another topic that caught attention during the interview was Barcelona’s ongoing goalkeeping situation. With growing rumours linking Espanyol’s Joan Garcia to the club, Fermin remained diplomatic.

“I get along very well with him, he’s very good,” he admitted, having played with Garcia at the Olympics. But he was quick to avoid controversy, stating,

“I don’t want to talk too much about this. We have to respect the goalkeepers we have; they are three very good goalkeepers.”

He left the matter in the hands of the board, adding, “The club will decide this. We know that names always come up in the transfer market. I don’t want to get into these things.”

On Lamine Yamal

Turning his attention, Fermin showered praise on Lamine Yamal after the youngster’s contract renewal until 2031. “I’m very happy that he’s still with us. We know he’s very good and every year he is with us is welcome,” Fermin said.

He even went as far as to name Yamal a future Ballon d’Or contender: “The level he’s shown at his age in Champions League matches… it is spectacular. What he has shown throughout the year is worthy of the Ballon d’Or.”

While he urged caution in putting pressure on the 17-year-old, his admiration was clear: “Let him continue enjoying himself and playing the way he does.”

Eyes on the Champions League

Finally, Fermin admitted he felt “a little angry” watching the Champions League final from afar, a sign of his competitive spirit.

But he channeled that frustration into ambition, promising that Barcelona will aim even higher next season.

“We’ve won three very important titles, and next year we will go for more. We know we have set the bar very high and next year we have to do the same or better.

“The team is ready and the manager will demand as much from us as always,” he concluded.
