Fernandes reveals conversation with Ronaldo after scandalous exit 🇵🇹 | OneFootball

Bruno Fernandes has addressed the drama within Portugal's national team as teammate Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be in an ongoing dispute with manager Jorge Jesus.

The No. 7 notably left the camp early, despite the team's Nations League campaign still being underway, after being upset about being benched. The very public event has left fans wondering whether Ronaldo will end his international career with a stain.

That said, Portugal will need to brush aside the murmurs ahead of their upcoming clash with Norway. Fernandes naturally addressed the topic during the pre-match press conference and confirmed that he has spoken with Ronaldo.

During the conversation, he gave him a bit of tough love and urged that they must "stop dividing things," while still acknowledging his legendary status.

"I don't need to talk to my teammates; we all know how to manage our own situations. We have a situation in the national team that has nothing to do with the players, and I think the most important role we can play is to deliver results on the field," said the current Manchester United player.

"Regarding Cristiano, I had a conversation with him, and what I told him is what I repeat here: the most important thing is that, regardless of what happens, Cristiano Ronaldo will never cease to be the greatest symbol of our national team, of our football, and of the country. For what he has done not only in Portugal but throughout the world."

"He has a reserved place not only among the best of all time, but also in the hearts of all Portuguese people, and the most important thing is that we stop dividing things; there are no divisions in the National Team. It's one and will remain so, despite any noise that may come from outside. Every organization should resolve its issues behind closed doors, and I think that's how the National Team should function, and I believe it will."

Manager Jesus has echoed the same sentiment about Ronaldo's legacy since the reported dispute. Regardless, with or without Ronaldo, he's off to a flying start in charge, with three wins from three.
