Corinthians announced on 6 April 2026 that Fernando Diniz is their new head coach, replacing Dorival Júnior after a 1-0 home defeat to Internacional at Neo Química Arena. His contract runs until the end of 2026.

Born in Patos de Minas on 27 March 1974, Fernando Diniz Silva is a former midfielder and a psychology graduate from Universidade São Marcos. He joined Corinthians after a spell at Palmeiras and was viewed as an attacking option from the bench.

With the club, he won the 1997 Campeonato Paulista then moved to Paraná Clube the following year. He made 50 appearances for Corinthians, scoring two goals.

Diniz began coaching in 2009 with Votoraty, winning the Campeonato Paulista Série A3 and the Copa Paulista. He later worked at Botafogo de Ribeirão Preto and Atlético Sorocaba, then led Grêmio Audax to the 2016 Campeonato Paulista final.

He was appointed on 3 January 2018 as general technical coordinator and head coach of Athletico Paranaense, leaving on 25 June. On 19 December 2018 he took over at Fluminense, winning the Taça Guanabara and the Copa Libertadores in 2023. He also had an interim spell with Brazil in 2023 before being dismissed by Fluminense.
