Fernando Diniz hailed Rodrigo Garro after the midfielder supplied both assists in Corinthians' 2-0 win at Platense, adding that he will work to rebuild the Argentine's confidence and form.

On Thursday night, Corinthians won 2-0 at Estádio Ciudad Vicente López in the opening round of Group E of the 2026 Copa Libertadores. According to Meu Timao, it was Diniz's first match in charge and he highlighted Garro's rare talent.

He said he would do everything possible to let Garro play with freedom within his ideas, adding that the performance felt like a first step back towards his best.

Garro joined in 2024 from Talleres and quickly became a starter, shining in the run-in as Corinthians climbed out of the relegation zone and qualified for the 2025 Libertadores.

After the 2025 Paulista title under Ramón Díaz, a run of injuries cost him minutes. When Dorival Júnior arrived in April last year, he advanced Breno Bidon, with Garro often used from the bench, before Dorival's spell ended last Sunday.

Under Diniz, the Argentine is aiming to regain rhythm. He is Corinthians' leading provider this season with five assists and could continue his streak on Sunday at 18:30, when Palmeiras visit Neo Química Arena in round 11 of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
