Fernando Diniz led his first Corinthians training session on Tuesday, preparing for Thursday’s Libertadores opener against Platense in Argentina.

Before stepping on to the pitch, he introduced himself to players and staff at CT Joaquim Grava, with president Osmar Stabile and football executive Marcelo Paz in attendance. According to Meu Timao, eight under-17 players joined the session.

They were Ronaldo Henrique and Felipe Aguirra, centre-backs, Wendel, a left-back, Ji-Paraná, a midfielder, Piracicaba, a holding midfielder. Kevin Índio and Gustavo Sales, forwards, and Matheus Rocha, an attacking midfielder, also took part.

After gym activation and a warm-up, Diniz oversaw possession work focused on passing, transitions and finishing. He then ran two strategic tactical drills, pausing to coach players through match situations.

The coach was formally presented at a press conference, and his contract was published in the BID (Boletim Informativo Diário) that day. The squad will have one more session on Wednesday morning before travelling to Argentina.

Corinthians have 50 players registered for the first phase. Forwards Memphis Depay, Gui Negão and Kaio César remain with the medical department and are not expected to travel.

The Group E opener kicks off at 21:00 on Thursday at the Ciudad de Vicente López. Corinthians share the group with Peñarol of Uruguay and Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia.
