Fernando Diniz remains undecided on whether to rotate Corinthians for Sunday’s trip to Flamengo, with a Libertadores quarter-final return against Estudiantes set for Wednesday.

According to Coluna Do Fla, he spoke after a 1-1 first leg in La Plata, saying he would wait for Friday’s return to training, assess the squad, then decide on Saturday. He called the second leg one of the most important in the club’s history, while stressing the league match also matters.

Corinthians are seven points above the relegation zone. A defeat at the Maracanã could move them closer to danger. They are 11 points behind fifth-placed Bahia, so qualifying for the 2027 Libertadores via Série A is unlikely.

Flamengo face Independiente del Valle in Quito on Thursday. With a tiring journey back to Rio, it is unlikely Leonardo Jardim will field the same line-up on Sunday. The league meeting carries extra weight, as Flamengo are new leaders, one point ahead of Palmeiras.

Flamengo v Corinthians is at 17:30, Brasília time, on Sunday at the Maracanã, in round 27. Flamengo’s Libertadores tie kicks off at 21:30 on Thursday.
