Ferran Torres, a Valencia academy graduate, delivered Spain's second world title with a decisive extra-time winner against Argentina in the World Cup final.
Spain had to wait until minute 106 to break Argentina's resistance, prompting celebrations among 47 million Spaniards. The player said in a post that it was every child's dream.
Amid the celebrations, he revisited a 2010 photo from Catarroja, taken as a 10-year-old with the World Cup trophy, a childhood vision now realised.
2010 champions Sergio Ramos, Xavi, Iker Casillas and Andrés Iniesta were in attendance at MetLife Stadium.
From Foios, Torres has faced criticism over his finishing during the tournament. Post-match reflections framed it as a huge release, with references to destiny and thanks to God for strength, and a wish to lift the trophy, celebrate with his people and take it to Spaniards.
