Ferran Torres opens door to Paris Saint-Germain move as Barcelona exit nears

It is looking increasingly likely that Ferran Torres will leave Barcelona before the summer transfer window closes. The 2026 World Cup final matchwinner has less than a year remaining on his current contract, and with there being no guarantee that a renewal is agreed upon, the chances of an exit are going up.

In recent weeks, Torres has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain, and this has complicated his Barcelona future. The 26-year-old did not shut the door on a move to the back-to-back European champions when he spoke to the media in the United States this week, and behind the scenes, he has now given his approval for a move, as per Sport.

Torres has informed PSG that he wants to join them this summer, and thus, an offer is expected to be presented to Barcelona in the coming days. The Catalans are open to selling, although they will only do so if their valuation is met – knowing that it will have to be reduced due to the Spain international’s contract situation.

Barcelona will not sign Torres replacement

Losing Torres would be a big blow for Barcelona, given how important he has been since Hansi Flick took charge two years ago. It would also leave them without a recognised striker – with the exception of teenager Hamza Abdelkarim – in the first team squad, given that they are struggling to sign Robert Lewandowski’s replacement.

However, it is very unlikely that Barcelona look to sign a replacement for Torres. Flick has Abdelkarim, Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and even Dani Olmo as players that can play through the middle in his system, and thus, the belief is that only a starter is needed.

At this stage, it does appear that Torres’ Barcelona career is coming to an end. It will be interesting to see how much money they can recoup from his sale, as this could go directly into the club’s push to sign Rodri.
