Ferran Torres opens up on PSG move after leaving Barcelona | OneFootball

FC Barcelona had quite a lively 2026 summer transfer window in which there was hardly a day without some exciting news and updates for the club’s fans. The Blaugranes ended up bringing in seven new players for Hansi Flick, but there were some important departures as well.

The most notable of these departures was that of the forward Ferran Torres, who joined Paris Saint-Germain for around €50 million. The Spaniard had quite an impactful start to life at the French club, as he scored two goals to help his team overcome a two-goal deficit and salvage a draw in their opening game of this Ligue 1 season.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Torres talked to the media in a Media Day organized by the Parisian club, and among other things, talked about how his transfer from Barcelona to PSG materialized. The forward made it clear that talks had begun even before the start of the World Cup for this move:

“The contacts with PSG actually began even before the World Cup. They called us and we spoke. I had already made my decision because I wanted to play for a club like PSG. It is a step forward in my career, one that I am extremely proud of because I am joining the European champions.”

The Spaniard also highlighted the role of the former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique in this transfer:

“I have always said that Luis Enrique was like a father to me from the moment I joined the Spanish national team. He has always believed in me, and now he believed in me enough to bring me to PSG. He has always given me a lot of confidence, and I hope to repay that trust this season.

Both Luis Enrique and Luis Campos have been very important figures in making my move here happen. I am very grateful for the confidence they have shown in me. I am now settling in; I have been here for two weeks, and the only thing I can do now is keep improving and be ready for my teammates. I cannot wait to win trophies and matches at this incredible club.”

Torres was already looking forward to the UCL League Phase game against the Catalans:

Joining a team like PSG, which is the current UCL title-holder, would be a dream for a vast majority of players. However, Ferran Torres’ comments might not please Barcelona fans too much, as the Blaugrana club itself is one of the very top clubs in Europe, and in some aspects, even bigger than PSG. But like Torres, these fans will also be eagerly awaiting the UCL clash with the Parisian side, which is scheduled for 21 October.
