FC Barcelona lost one of the key pieces of their attack, Robert Lewandowski, at the end of the last season, and are yet to land his replacement as the summer transfer window nears its final few weeks. Meanwhile, another of their center-forwards, Ferran Torres, is also very close to leaving the Catalan club.
The Spaniard has been very closely linked with the French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain. In fact, some reports suggest that there is already an agreement in place between the Catalans and the Parisians, while the player himself has been eager to join the European champions for several weeks now.
An indication of the proximity of his move arrived yesterday, as he did not report to train at the Ciutat Esportiva along with the rest of the Spanish national team players, who had participated in the World Cup, on Wednesday. He was granted permission to miss training to finalize his move to PSG.
This move has still not been finalized, but as MARCA has noted, he remained absent from training on Thursday, as he awaits a call from Barcelona that will authorize him to travel to Paris to complete his transfer. He is expected to take this journey in the coming few hours, either today or tomorrow, depending on how the operation progresses and on the schedule of PSG, who won UEFA Super Cup last night after a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, Hansi Flick continued to train his other players at the Ciutat Esportiva. All the World Cup players, barring Ferran Torres, have now returned to train under him, but players like Marc Casado, Hector Fort, and Jofre Torrents, who are expected to leave the club this summer, are undertaking only part of their training with the group, while working away from the group for the other part of training.
