Feyenoord want to talk to Quinten Timber about his expiring contract, ideally avoiding the midfielder’s exit on a free transfer next term.
Timber was open to leaving this summer, and according to director Dennis te Kloese in an exclusive interview with the Algemeen Dagblad, “There was very serious interest in him.”
Bayer Leverkusen were closely linked with the 24-year-old, but an agreement with the Rotterdam club was not reached.
“It didn’t happen, but not because we didn’t want to cooperate. Now, the question remains whether we’ll extend the contract or not. Well, we have time to have a cup of coffee now. We have very good contact with him; we don’t notice anything wrong with him. He’s very professional.”
Timber lost his captain’s armband to Sem Steijn this summer, with Robin van Persie explaining that his contract situation played a role in this. Timber was signed from FC Utrecht in 2022 and will remain a regular in Rotterdam this season.
