Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa will miss only one match following his red card in Saturday’s home match against Heerenveen (1-0).
Feyenoord and Hadj Moussa successfully rejected a settlement proposal from the professional football prosecutor, who advocated a three-match suspension, one of which was conditional.
Hadj Moussa, who scored the game’s only goal, was penalised shortly after halftime by referee Robin Hensgens with a yellow card for a foul on Heerenveen player Vasilios Zagaritis. However, after VAR intervention, the yellow card turned to red.
Manager Robin van Persie felt this was unfair. “It looked worse than it was,” the former international said.
After an emergency hearing, the disciplinary committee imposed a two-match suspension, one of which was conditional. This means Hadj Moussa will miss Wednesday’s match against Fortuna Sittard, but he will be eligible to play in Sunday’s top-flight away match against AZ.
