Feyenoord host Groningen in the Eredivisie at Stadion Feijenoord on Saturday, with the second-placed holders aiming to cement Champions League qualification while the visitors chase momentum towards the European play-off spots.
Feyenoord edged the reverse fixture 1-0 away in September and remain second in the table. Robin van Persie's side have drawn four of their past five league games, while Groningen are unbeaten in five with three wins in that run, including victories over Ajax and AZ.
The hosts list several injuries, with Bart Nieuwkoop, Gijs Smal, Hwang In-beom, Jakub Moder and Sem Steijn among those sidelined. Groningen report Oskar Zawada, Stije Resink and Mark Hoekstra as out.
Goals should again flow through Ayase Ueda, the league's leading scorer on 23. Wide supply is a key route: Feyenoord have delivered 385 open-play crosses at 22.86% accuracy and scored 12 headed goals, with Anis Hadj Moussa adding eight goals and six assists. Groningen's shape has been resilient, conceding 37 and keeping 10 clean sheets this season, and they carry threat through Thom van Bergen, who has eight league goals, with Younes Taha providing seven assists.
A home win would tighten Feyenoord's grip on second and the Champions League places. Groningen, ninth, could move closer to the qualification play-off berths with a result, keeping pressure on the sides immediately above them.
