Corinthians supporters have overwhelmingly backed André Carrillo as the preferred replacement for the suspended Allan in midfield for the decisive Libertadores last-16 return against Rosario Central. Allan was sent off in the first leg in Argentina.
According to Meu Timao, the Peruvian claimed 86.4% of votes, with academy product Matheus Pereira on 7.0%, Alex Santana on 4.2% and Charles on 0.9%.
Carrillo started Sunday’s 23rd-round Brasileiro defeat to Cruzeiro, playing 79 minutes before being replaced by Matheus Pereira.
If Fernando Diniz selects him, it would be Carrillo’s first run of back-to-back starts in seven months. His last sequence came under Dorival Júnior in successive 1-1 draws with São Paulo at Neo Química Arena and Santos at Vila Belmiro.
Across Diniz’s 25 matches in charge, the 35-year-old has begun only five. Despite limited minutes as a starter, the last time he stayed on the bench for the full 90 was the 1-1 draw at Peñarol in Montevideo in the Libertadores group stage.
Carrillo’s future remains open. His contract runs until 31 December, so he is already free to sign a pre-contract elsewhere.
Corinthians host Rosario Central in Itaquera on Thursday at 21:30. They need a simple win to reach the quarter-finals, another draw would take the tie to penalties.
